Daithí Doolan has a passion for politics. He has been a political activist for most of his adult life and has proven his ability to deliver at a national, regional and local level. He has been a member of the party's Ard Chomhairle for several years.

In his own constituency he has been to the fore in campaigning against bin charges, incineration, hospitals closures, high rise developments and the scourge of drugs. Since the 1990s Daithí has tackled both the causes and consequences of drug addiction in our communities.

As Sinn Féin candidate for the South East Inner City, Daithí received a strong endorsement from the electorate, polling over 13% in the 1999 local elections. This happened through consistent hard work and representing people in an honest and energetic way on issues that effect their lives.

Daithí fought a very successful election campaign in 2002, scoring 7:5% in the poll.

Last year Daithí also headed up Sinn Féin's vibrant campaign against the Treaty of Nice. As the parties Campaign Director, Daithí ensured that Sinn Féin were to the fore in demanding a 'NO' vote in the October referendum. Though unsuccessful in defeating the treaty, Sinn Féin has come out stronger and better organised than at any time previous.

He is a Sinn Féin Councillor for the South East Inner City and representative for Dublin South East.
