Ferris calls for extension of slurry spreading deadline

The Sinn Féin Spokesperson on Agriculture, Martin Ferris TD has once again called for the deadline for completing slurry spreading to be extended until December 31. The Kerry North TD pointed out that the Sinn Féin Minister for Agriculture in the northern Executive Michelle Gildernew had already done so for farmers in the Six Counties. View more

Sinn Féin Opposes Cuts in Single Farm Payment

The Sinn Féin Spokesperson on Agriculture, Martin Ferris TD has reiterated Sinn Féin’s opposition to increasing the amount of modulation on farmer’s payments. In effect the increase in modulation amounts to a cut in the Single Farm Payment and will place further pressure on farm incomes. The Sinn Féin MEPs voted against the increase in the European Parliament. View more

Ferris calls for rejection of fishing cuts

The Sinn Féin Spokesperson on fishing, Martin Ferris TD has called on the Irish Government to reject the latest cuts in the fishing quota proposed by the EU Commission. The cuts would mean that the North West whitefish sector will be closed with cuts of up to 25% in other species including a 15% reduction in the prawn quota. Deputy Ferris raised the issue under Dáil Standing Orders. View more

Ferris expresses concern over joblessness in Kerry

Kerry North TD Martin Ferris succeeded in having the Dáil debate the issue of unemployment in Kerry this evening. Deputy Ferris had moved a Matter on the Adjournment expressing concern over the 78% jump in the jobless figure in the past twelve months. He called on the Government to take immediate steps to address the situation. View more
