Wicklow - John Brady

John lives in Bray, and is married to Gayle they have 4 children. At 33 years of age John is the youngest Councillor in the County and is also the youngest candidate in Wicklow for the upcoming general election.

He was educated in St. Fergal's and St. Killians in Bray; he severed an apprentice as a wood machinist, and attended Bolton St. College in Dublin. He is now self-employed and runs his own wood working business.

John was the Director of Elections for Mairead Keane in the 2002 general election; he has also played a major role in building the party in Wicklow serving as chairperson of the Delaney/O'Rahilly cuman in Bray for a number of years and as secretary of the Comhairle Ceantair.

John was elected to Bray Town Council in 2004 taking 8.41% of the vote, he is the first Republican elected in Bray since the murder of Seamus Costello in 1977.

Since his election John has built a reputation for being a hard worker and for representing all his constituents equally. He has drawn praise for his stance on environmental issues, the housing crisis in Wicklow and the Drugs epidemic, which has destroyed many communities in Wicklow.

John is currently heading a campaign in Wicklow to have a General Hospital located there, which would provide Maternity, Paediatric and Accident and Emergency services.

He has worked with many community groups and was instrumental in securing premises for The Queen of Peace Youth Club and St. Fergal's Boxing club, which is the home of Katie Taylor the women's light weight champion of the World.
