Ó Snodaigh calls for Oireachtas Committee meeting to examine EU agreements with Israel
Sinn Féin International Affairs and Human Rights Spokesperson Aengus Ó Snodaigh TD has today written to the respective Chairpersons of the Oireachtas Committees on European Affairs and European Scrutiny to ask for meetings to be convened in order to examine whether Israel’s current actions in Gaza are in breach of its agreements with the EU which underpin substantial privileges for Israel including preferential trade. Spent Convictions Bill a welcome first step – Ó Snodaigh
Sinn Féin Justice Spokesperson Aengus Ó Snodaigh TD has welcomed the Spent Convictions Bill 2008 in the Dáil this afternoon as the first occasion on which the state has recognised that a minor conviction should not hang over an adult for the rest of their life. However Deputy Ó Snodaigh said the Government needs to produce separate legislation or to incorporate new provisions into this Bill to deal with the distinct situation of political ex-prisoners. Ó Snodaigh welcomes Dublin heroin seizure
Sinn Féin Justice Spokesperson Aengus Ó Snodaigh TD has welcomed last night’s seizure of 30kg of heroin with an estimated value of €6million at Dublin port. Deputy Ó Snodaigh said the recent increase in heroin seizures has coincided with an upsurge in people seeking help for heroin addiction. He said the heroin seized must be checked for contamination as part of the investigation into the recent outbreak of botulism. View more

Ó Snodaigh moves Dáil motion on Social Housing and Homelessness

Speaking on the motion, which was jointly sponsored by Sinn Féin and the Labour Party Deputy Ó Snodaigh called for the construction of an additional 10,000 social housing units each year for the next three years to meet the glaring social need.
