Government must protect mortgage holders from exorbitant management company fees – Ó Snodaigh

November 19, 2008

Sinn Féin Housing Spokesperson Aengus Ó Snodaigh TD, speaking in the Dáil this morning, called on the Government to introduce legislation to regulate management companies who he said are ripping off mortgage holders in apartment and house complexes throughout the state.

Deputy Ó Snodaigh said, "The Government must introduce legislation to regulate management companies who are ripping off mortgage holders in new apartment and house complexes.

"In light of increasing job losses and rising home repossessions there is a need for the Government to protect mortgage holders from exorbitant management company fees and to ensure that responsibility for the maintenance of new complexes are handed over to local authorities within a reasonable timeframe."
